For the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Tunisia turned to its ancient past for inspiration. The national team’s jersey featured a subtle graphic based on the Ksour Essef cuirass, a piece of body armor discovered in Tunisia and dating to the 3rd century BC. Historians believe the armor may be connected to the era of Carthage and the campaigns of the legendary general Hannibal, one of the ancient world’s greatest military leaders.

By incorporating the armor into the shirt’s design, Tunisia sought to connect modern players with a proud heritage of courage, resilience, and determination. The graphic transformed the jersey into more than sportswear, symbolically dressing the team as warriors carrying the legacy of an ancient civilization.

The design served as a visual bridge between past and present, reminding players and supporters that Tunisia’s story extends far beyond football.
